Multi-agency working is key to the effective safeguarding and child protection practice at The Grove School.

The children and young people attending The Grove will, throughout their lives, be likely to need access to a range of services. It’s vital that as practitioners we work together to gain a full overview of a child’s situation and have a coordinated approach to support.

Everyone who works with children and young people has a responsibility to share any information that has a bearing on a child’s welfare as early as possible. Following The Grove’s child protection policies and procedures, ensures that procedures are clearly set out and includes how to share information and who with.

Multi-Agency Group (MAG)

Every four weeks we run a Multi-Agency team meeting. This meeting is chaired by Miss Nadine Huseyin (Family Support, Pastoral & Safeguarding Lead) and includes:

  • Family Support, Pastoral & Safeguarding Lead  (part of the Senior Leadership team)
  • Deputy Headteacher (part of the Senior Leadership team)
  • Disabled Children’s Team Manager (Haringey Children’s Social Care)
  • CAMHS Consultant in Learning Disability Haringey

This meeting ensures that we communicate effectively with each other, sharing information that potentially affects pupils’ wellbeing. The priority is the child or young person’s needs are being met; that we share information to ensure we provide support.

It is crucial that practitioners from different agencies work together and share the same messages.

Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)

Onsite at The Grove School we run a Multi-Disciplinary team meeting every two weeks. This meeting is chaired by Mrs Helen Georgiades (Deputy Headteacher) and includes:

  • Deputy Headteacher (Chair & part of the Senior Leadership team)
  • Family Support, Pastoral & Safeguarding Lead  (part of the Senior Leadership team)
  • Art Therapist
  • Music Therapist
  • Speech & Language Therapists
  • Speech and Language Therapist Assistant
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Occupational Therapist Assistant

This meeting offers the chance for the school based team to develop a coordinated approach to interventions and work with pupils attending The Grove School. It also ensures that the team are able to plan for and monitor progress.

Information from the Multi-Disciplinary team is sometimes shared in the Multi-Agency Group Meeting, if it is agreed that it would benefit the child or young person.
